KLIMAGUNE 2017 AND THE INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF THE IPCC FOR BC3, THE BASQUE CENTRE FOR CLIMATE CHANGE

In May 2017 we collaborated with our client BC3, Basque Centre for Climate Change, in the promotion of Klimagune 2017 in the media and specialized magazines. We at Linking Ideas also supported the strategy and implementation for its promotion on Twitter, which we developed in collaboration with Digitalde. The purpose this year was to co-generate new trans-disciplinary knowledge on climate change and to transmit this to multiple audiences through an innovative participatory process.

Organised in conjunction with the University of the Basque Country, the 7th edition of this workshop discussed the standards and degrees of social participation in relation to climate change, with the contribution of some of most renowned international leaders and thinkers in this field.

Besides, more than 190 experts from the IPCC came together in Bilbao at the beginning of June to kick start work on a new Methodological Report. Its aim was updating the guidelines used by the member countries of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to measure greenhouse gas emissions and removals and to adapt them to the new requirements of the 2015 Paris Agreement. The meeting of this expert committee delegated by the IPCC was organised by BC3 and we had the opportunity to work together to facilitate the promotion of the encounter, a milestone for the scientific community.
